Macerated Currency Top Hat

Macerated currency items were produced by The US Treasury from 1890 to the Hoover Administration. They were made from “Greenbacks” American currency taken out of circulation by the Treasury Dept. This hat is 3 1/4″ wide x 2 3/4″ wide x 2″ high The label on the side says: “made of US National Greenbacks redeemed and macerated at The US Treasury estimated $5,000.00 Made at Washington DC” Top hats were the fashion of the day plus they were associated with being worn by The Presidents.
