When President Lincoln was assassinated, he was greatly mourned. He had many funerals in all the cities where his funeral train visited on his way to Springfield Ill. Many enterprising merchants made black draped mourning items to help people mourn his death. This is one such mourning relic. It is quite rare as I have only seen two others. It is a brass button with Lincolns image on it with a small piece of dark cloth most likely originally black but has since turned color due to fading. It is said this button is like the buttons that decorated and adorned his elaborate coffin. It is possible that this could have come from his coffin as he was re-buried many times in Springfield and several times he received a better coffin. Each time he was re-buried people did take wood from his coffin so this could very well have come from his original decorated coffin. In any case its very rare. Email for price.
