42 Star with a rare “Halo”, Great Star, Medallion star pattern. Exceedingly rare 42 Star Flag with a incredibly rare star pattern called a “Halo” as the large center star also called a Great Star is outlined to give it a halo effect. Also called a medallion design when the stars are arranged in circles. Made one at a time by stenciling onto starched gauze fabric. This is the only known example of a 42 star flag with this star pattern to exist. The 42 Star Flag was also instantly obsolete as five States were added to the Union at one time on July 4th 1890.
