A very rare military Indian War period Regimental National Color Flag.. 37 Star made of silk with fringe. Flags this size and made like this are considered a guidon. Some guidons are made of canvas or cotton which are the ones used in the field and have a swallowtail cut. This is a parade ground or ceremonial flag/guidon. Dates from 1867 to 1877. Andrew Johnson, Ulysses S. Grant & Rutherford B. Hayes were Presidents during this period.
