Rare authentic antique 30 Star flag on a silk Presidential Campaign “kerchief” with patriotic motif from the famous Mastai Collection. Circa 1848 Zachary Taylor of The Whig Party was running against Martin Van Buren of The Free Soil Party and also running was Lewis Cass of The Democrat Party. All these gentlemen were running against the incumbent President James K. Polk with Zachary Taylor winning. Most important about this special textile is that it was once owned by and in the Mastai Collection of great American flags and patriotic textiles. This is a very rare patriotic textile and would be an asset in any flag or Americana collection. There are several brown spots and on the lower left side it appears the blue dye ran.
