13 star flag Canton

Authentic antique 13 star flag. Individual hand cut and hand sewn stars. Made of wool with a canvas hoist with hand made hand pressed brass grommets. A war time flag as the canton is made of two panels showing a shortage of material . Numerous holes, rips and tears and loss from age wear and use.

This is the canton of the flag only. The stripes and the rest of the flag are missing. The most likely conclusion is that the stripes were so damaged they were removed at some point in time. Nevertheless someone felt this flag remnant was so important they saved it.

Civil War era flag. Most likely used by the military or as a patriotic symbol for political events.
