13 star flag / SOLD

Authentic antique 13 star flag. Individual hand painted pointy stars.  The canton is made of two panels which is symbolic of a war time flag with fabric shortages.  Made of wool with a canvas hoist with hand made hand pressed brass grommets.

Fading throughout from age wear and use.  Army’s have been using painted flags or stenciled flags since the 1400’s. The Army also used hand painted silk flags all through the civil war . This is a very rare 13 star flag.

Most likely used by the military or as a patriotic symbol for political events.
