A most unusual flag to find. Large 48 Star made of cotton. Cotton hoist with brass grommets. Sewn edges. Printed stars. Individual sewn stripes. The flag has a large gold star in the center of the canton that is hand stitched. The flag has a hand written note that is written in period ink on to the flag. It says; “Flag from Chattanooga Sgt. Thos. H. Smith Hdqrs Batt #2 Motor Units Camp Greenleaf Sec A Chickamanga Park Georgia Died Oct 12, 1918 Ft. Oglethorpe
