Antique Hand Sewn 13 Star Flag

Rare small antique 13 Star flag with hand cut and sewn double applique stars. The strips are early treadle sewn single line stitching . The flag is made of wool, it has a heavy weight linen hoist with hand stitched button hole type grommets which is typical of pre-civil war era flags. The hoist is hand stitched to the flag  and the fly end has a hand sewn hem.  13 Star flags from this time period were mostly made as a patriotic symbol for the two Lincoln Campaigns This flag is circa 1859-1860 Very rare small antique 13 Star Flag. Rated a 10.
