ANTIQUE 40 STAR AMERICAN FLAG. ANTIQUE 40 STAR AMERICAN FLAG. Authentic antique 40 Star American Flag. Made of a starched gauze material.  40 Star Flags are very rare because in 1890 five states/flags were officially logged as new states. So the 40 Star flag got lost in the shuffle so to speak. This flag is also rare because it’s made to hang vertically. For a flag to hang correctly the canton must always be top left. Also this flag is very rare because the stars are arranged in a scattered arrangement but the outside row of strs is square. The stars are also made to look like they are spinning like stars in the night sky. So this flag is pretty rare on several levels. It is quite faded, the white has turned tan, the red to a orange, but it’s still beautiful.
