Hand Sewn Star from 36 Star Civil War Flag
Hand Sewn Star from 36 Star Civil War Flag (single star from 36 star flag not full flag) Beautiful hand cut from linen and intricately sewn to the blue wool canton of a very large 36 Star Civil war Flag.
The flag was found in terrible condition. It was cost prohibitive to restore and or frame the flag as it was falling apart. It had major damage and heavy wear from age & the weather. The only salvageable part of the flag were some of its stars. The star itself measure 6″ across. It has been framed so you can see the front and the back of the star. The star is called a peek-a-boo star as the maker did not make two stars, she cut a star shape out of the blue canton and sewed the white star to the front of the flag and hemmed the blue canton around the star on the back so the white star shows thru on the backside.
