1889 Gar Relic Civil War Sword Hand Painted & Dated

Broken Civil War sword relic. 1889 period GAR Civil War Relic. The GAR (Grand Army of the Republic) made up of Union Civil War Veterans. This sword blade has been hand painted with the GAR symbol and with the date of 1889. Since the GAR was made up of Union vets, I assume that this relic was either a GAR members sword that was used and broke in battle or it was a Confederate sword he captured during the Civil War. Either way it’s a most unique and great Civil War GAR relic. It  also has a GAR brass cap in the end of the wood handle.
