An exceedingly rare 47 Star American Flag. Also a GAR (Grand Army of The Republic, Union Civil War Veterans) Post Flag. The stars are arranged in a very rare star pattern called a medallion. Also at the center of the star arrangement is the GAR Membership Badge which resembles the Medal Of Honour. This is very rare to be found on GAR Flags. The “Post 149” Stamp is the nicest and most elaborate Post ID I have seen on a GAR Post Flag. Also what is noteworthy about this flag is that it only has 47 Stars which dates it to 1912. There are virtually no 47 Star Flags because they were instantly obsolete as the 48 Star Flag also was introduced and became the official flag on July 4th 1912. For serious flag collectors only.
